Genting Highlands Pahang Malaysia is one of the premier tourist destinations in Malaysia attractions millions of visitors from across the world as well as Malaysia. Genting is easily accessible from Kuala Lumpur which makes it a very popular destination for a day trip or a weekend break for the entire family. Kuantan East Malaysia

Kuantan is the capital city of Pahang on the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia. I travelled to Kuantan from Kuala Terengganu in September 2019. The road trip takes around 2.5 hours and passes through a number of interesting and laid-back coastal towns including Kuala Dungan, Chukai, and Cherating. These coastal towns are popular for water sports and attract crowds from surrounding towns over the weekends. There are a number of seaside resorts along Cherating Beach.

Kuala Terengganu

Kuala Terengganu is an important and culturally interesting city to visit in the North-Eastern part of Malaysia. Kuala Terengganu is quite popular with people accessing the Perhentian Islands, Palau Redang and Kapas Islands which offer some of the best diving and snorkelling locations on the East Coast of Malaysia. Most international tourists use Kuala Terengganu as a starting point for travelling to the Perhentian Islands which attracts during peak seasons between March and November.

The areas covered is 800 sq.km. This part of the country is the heart of rice cultivation and you can see stretches of paddy fields all across the state. Kedah has been conquered by Thai and British through history and you can see the remnant of a past long forgotten era. You can travel from Kedah to Thailand by train and road through Perlis. Less visited local sites include Ulu Muda Eco Reserve. 

Most notable places to visit in this area is Langkawi Island.

Places to see in Northern Region

PENANG: Northern region is famous for its landscapes, paddy fields, rich culture and food. Penang is famous for Nonya Food and is called Pearl of the east. Penang history is steeped in interesting events and

PERLIS & KEDAH is the north most state sharing borders with Thailand. This area is rich in rice cultivation and is known as the "Rice Bowl of Malaysia". 

PERAK: is one of the richest mining areas and birthplace of the rubber industry in Malaysia. The famous Langkawi Island is located in this region. 

Things to do in Northern Region:  

Langkawi Island: Langkawi has two main island areas Southern Islands and northern islands. Southern Islands are more heavily populated.  Langkawi enjoys UNESCO's GeoPark Status.
