Shopping in Bangkok

Bangkok is a crazy destination for shoppers of all age groups. You will find whatever you are looking for at very competitive prices. From street markets to top-of-the-line malls Bangkok has everything to offer for travellers. The top locations for shopping in Bangkok are:

Best places to shop in Bangkok

  • Siam Paragon (map)
  • CentralWorld Siam (map)
  • BMK Siam (map)
  • Terminal 21, Sukhumvit Road
  • Central Chidlom, Chidlom-Ploenchit
  • Gaysorn Shopping Mall
  • Siam Discovery, Siam
  • Platinum Fashion Mall, Pratunam
  • Silom Complex
  • Asiatique The RiverFront (night bazaar and Mall )
  • Palladium Shopping Mall ( Pratunam Area of Bangkok)
  • The Mega Banga   (located halfway between Suvarnabhumi International Airport)

How to get there

Siam Square is the most popular and very crowded spot in the middle of the city. There are several shopping centres that are connected by overhead bridges and walkways. Be in good shape to walk because there are lots of people and the humid weather will get you if you are not used to it. Make sure you have your water bottle and comfortable walking shoes as shopping in Bangkok is a tiring drill and requires to walk around a lot.

If you are not driving you can use the Skytrain (walkway) and the local trains. The train station to get-off SIAM.

If you are driving you can find plenty of cheap parking at one of the parking in the shopping centres. The traffic is terrible and takes too much time to get around. Make sure you catch a tuk-tuk from your hotel if you are not that far or jump on public transport as if you are not familiar with the road there will be lots of problems moving around the city and find parking.

Parking Fee

MBK parking costs are 30bhat if you stay for more than 3 hours. SIAM Square parking is free if you shop over 2000 bhat (check online).

As shown in the map above the shopping district is surrounded by Ratchadamri Road on the East, Rama I Road in the south and Paya Thai Road on the West. The northern side is surrounded by Petchaburi Road. If your sole aim of coming to Bankok is shopping you might want to find accommodation in one of the following hotels in and around Siam Square.

I have been exploring South-East Asia for over twenty years and have visited some of the best destinations in the region. Through my blog, I want to share some interesting travel tips, my experience of driving across Asian destinations and some of the best places to explore in this region. I have undertaken hundreds of road trips, across Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Australia. Most of the information in this blog comes through my own road trips and adventures in the exotic locations I have visited.

I have, in the past followed in Anthony Bourdain's footsteps and visited most of the restaurants his team explored in their shows. Join in on my adventures and follow my trails on Instagram & Facebook Page.
