I have been exploring South-East Asia for over twenty years and have visited some of the best destinations in the region. Through my blog, I want to share some interesting travel tips, my experience of driving across Asian destinations and some of the best places to explore in this region. I have undertaken hundreds of road trips, across Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Australia. Most of the information in this blog comes through my own road trips and adventures in the exotic locations I have visited.

I have, in the past followed in Anthony Bourdain's footsteps and visited most of the restaurants his team explored in their shows. Join in on my adventures and follow my trails on Instagram & Facebook Page.

Planning a trip to Malacca Malaysia from Kuala Lumpur? Malacca is probably the most visited tourist destination in Malaysia after Kuala Lumpur. Its easy access from Kuala Lumpur Airport as well as KL City makes it an ideal location for a day trip or a weekend excursion. If you are travelling with family, Malacca has a number of kids from all age groups.

Sydney offers a wide range of cuisine from around the world. Most tourist and visitors to the town tend to explore places near Darling Harbour and Circular Quay which is the most visited areas of the city. However, there are a number of neighbourhoods with quality restaurants in all price ranges. I have tried to short-list some interesting and popular restaurants by neighbourhood and proximity to the CBD. If you staying in Darling Harbour or CBD area, most of these establishments are easily accessible.

Singapore Zoo is one of the most visited destinations in Singapore. With three interesting parks located right next to the zoo, this location has become a must-visit the site for families travelling to Singapore for holidays. If you have more time to yourself you would want to get multiple passes to visit

  • River Safari
  • Singapore Zoo
  • Night Safari
  • Jurong Bird Park

Children under three can enter these parks for free. If you plan to visit all four locations a promotional pass valid for three days cost around $60GDG.

Ipoh is around 250km north of Kuala Lumpur. The driving distance from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh is around three hours. The freeway is AH2. The drive on freeways is quite good, however, keep an eye on the speeding motorists.  The overall experience of driving intercity in Malaysia is quite good. Watch out for the speeding bikers and commercial cars. People do not normally go by the traffic rules and over speed on the freeways.

Months of travelling has finally paid off. $300 worth of credit in my Agoda online booking account. How good is that? I will be staying for a week free of cost across Malaysia. I decided to look for three-star budget hotels.

Shopping in Bangkok

Bangkok is a crazy destination for shoppers of all age groups. You will find whatever you are looking for at very competitive prices. From street markets to top-of-the-line malls Bangkok has everything to offer for travellers. The top locations for shopping in Bangkok are:

Best places to shop in Bangkok

  • Siam Paragon (map)
  • CentralWorld Siam (map)
  • BMK Siam (map)
  • Terminal 21, Sukhumvit Road
  • Central Chidlom, Chidlom-Ploenchit
  • Gaysorn Shopping Mall
  • Siam Discovery, Siam
  • Platinum Fashion Mall, Pratunam
  • Silom Complex
  • Asiatique The RiverFront (night bazaar and Mall )
  • Palladium Shopping Mall ( Pratunam Area of Bangkok)
  • The Mega Banga   (located halfway between Suvarnabhumi International Airport)

136, Jalan Changkat Thambi Dollah, Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 55100

One of the best serviced apartments in the city, this property is within close vicinity of the Golden Triangle, home to major shopping complexes and the most thriving businesses in Malaysia. Indeed a popular area amongst international tourists, business travellers, and even expatriates, guests will certainly find this location excellent.

Bangkok has two international airports, Suvarnabhumi Airport and Don Maung Airport. Both airports are located in different directions from Bangkok City Center. Make sure you are aware of which airport you are landing on when catching a flight to Bangkok. The taxi fee or other transport fees you will pay to your hotel will be quite different. This information will also help you find hotels in your budget if you want to stay close to the airport. We decided to stay close to Suvarnabhumi airport and picked on Regent Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel.

Fraser Residence Kuala Lumpur is one of the premier places to stay in the KLCC Area. The establishment is ideally located at walking distance from Petronas Twin Towers, Menara KL and other places of interest in Kuala Lumpur City Center. With an option of two to three-bedroom, Fraser residence Kuala Lumpur is ideally suited for large families looking for all amenities of home during their holidays.

Phuket is located around 1000km south of Bangkok. Most international flights land in Bangkok which has two international Airports. Before organising your trip make sure you know where your plane is landing and if you are planning to travel to Phuket and want a day or two stopovers in Bangkok. Out of hundreds of options thrown out to you online, selecting a hotel with comfortable facilities and reasonable rates can be a challenge. I have travelled a couple of times to Bangkok and stayed at various types of hotels. Some hotels appear quite different from what they look like in the pictures online.
